Faria is working as a nurse in a private hospital of Khulna City. She has a dream of establishing herself by earning and abided with in this profession. She described briefly on her 21 years life journey in the following success story as it sounded:
From my childhood, I saw my father's hard working life of a mason for earning money to feed the family which hearted me a lot. It was daily basis work and sometimes he could not manage work and failed to feed us and dressed up well even if he wanted. When I was in ninth grade in school, my father wanted me to get marriage as I was burden for my father due to poverty but I refused. Since then, I was planning to be engaged in job after my completion of study but did not know how to do it.
After one year of hard work, I finally completed the nursing course and became a nurse. After completing my nursing course I started to look for a job in different hospitals/ health center and clinic. After three months hunting finally I got a job as a nurse in Anwara Memorial Hospital & diagnostic center, Boyra, Khuna. I am proud of myself to be able to serve so many patients. I am currently earnings 7000 taka per month. “’My parents are happy now because I can contribute financially for my family and to myself. I think the profession is noble one because I can serve patients as well as my family.”
After the death of Beauti Khatun’s husband she was living a miserable life in a slum in Daulatpur with two children. Beauty khatun’s father is also very poor and he is a day labor. As a result it was not possible for him to run the family of widowed daughter. At one stage her children’s education was stopped. In this situation Beauty Khatun was looking for a work. One day she heard about sewing and tailoring training news through an advertisement on miking from ADAMS Integrated Training Institute (AITI) Khulna.
After hearing the news she was admitted In AITI in tailoring & sewing course and trained in sewing with the help of the project. After successfully completing o6 months tailoring &sewing training, she received loan to purchase sewing machine and started doing a small business. At first she got s a little work by taking some orders through the neighbours. Although she had little in the beginning she continued resumed her children’s education with this income. Currently she is earning 7 to 8 thousand taka per month. With this little money she is continuing her family expenses somehow. She feels that it is a first step towards self-reliance after receiving her training. It has helped her to develop a more enthusiastic and self-reliant attitude towards work. Now her scope of work is increasing and she is thinking to buy an electric machine. She thinks that if she gets more opportunities to increase her income, her field of work will expand much more and she will be more self-reliant and educate her child. New her elder child is admitted into ADAMS pre-school. She dreams that her small tailoring work will become a big tailoring shop and her children will get good jobs after completing their education.
Rasel Shekh a 24 years old boy lives in Khalispur, Khulna with his family. Since he is learning to understand after his birth he realized the financial crisis of his family. His father earns a small amount of money from small business through which their family somehow survives. From the time he entered adolescence, he began to think about earning money. But his father did not allow him without completing study. He continued his study with great difficulties. He had pay for his education through tuition. One day Rasel decided to earn money to help his parents before completing his study. But where and how he will find work to earn? While he was looking forward to earn money through any job/work, he failed several times as he was not experienced nor a technical expert in any field. One such time he heard news about computer training through an advertisement from ADAMS Integrated Training Institute (AITI).
After hearing the news he was admitted In AITI on computer course and trained on 4 months training course on graphics design with the help of the project. After successfully completing o4 month’s computer course he got a job in private institute as a graphics designer. Now he is earning 10000 tk. per month from this company. The money he earns from his work has helped his family in addition to paying for education expenses. Now he dreams of opening a own institute by involving some trained unemployment boys and girls in future. My parents are happy now because I can contribute financially for our family needs, I spend money for my family needs and for myself. I am very much happy and enthusiastic because I am able to take financial responsibility of my family’’, said Rasel.
